Seventeen unlikely tales set in and around the magical Canary Island of Tenerife.

"Tony Thorne has the mind of a scientist and the soul of an artist. His science and technology are correct, his extrapolations wonderful and ingenious. But then – surprise! A blackness may descend – or a brilliant flash of black humour. Read and enjoy … Harry Harrison."
– Barcelo Varadero Hotel, Tenerife, 19.11.2007 … www.harryharrison.com

"Tony Thorne, cynical and distrustful of what the future may hold, has produced seventeen short stories, all with Tenerife connections, to startle and warn us all.

Mix in a few short anecdotal observations and you have a guidebook to the bizarre and downright strange, to lead you on flights of fancy. Tony’s easy style will carry you through his tales, with belief suspended, until you reach the end and think, well that just couldn’t happen; could it?"
– Colin Kirby writes for The Tenerife Sun, Think Spain Today and The Daily Record among others. www.colinkirby.com

About the Author(s): Tony Thorne MBE is an Englishman, born in London, but now living in Austria and Tenerife. For developments in low temperature (cryo)surgery and high temperature furnaces, for processing carbon fibre, the Queen awarded him an MBE. Earlier in life he, wrote science fiction and humorous stories, and was a spare time lecturer for the British Interplanetary Society. He has since written papers and articles for several technical publications, and has held patents, in such varied fields as nuclear protection clothing, very high temperature processing, and microbiological assay laboratory equipment.
